Webinar: Effective Communication on GHG Calculation for the Land Transport Sector to Non-Technical Audience

28 September 2017

Webinar on Effective Communication on GHG Calculation for the Land Transport Sector to Non-Technical Audience
Date: 22 November 2017
Time: 4-5 p.m. Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta (UTC+7), 5-6 p.m. Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Beijing (UTC+8), 10-11 a.m. Berlin (UTC+1)
Platform: Skype for Business

Rationale: The growing global concern on climate change has led more and more countries to step up their efforts to mitigate the impacts both at the national and international levels. Under the international climate change negotiations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), 166 countries have ratified the Paris Agreement and set their GHG emissions reduction targets, so-called nationally determined contributions (NDCs). Accordingly, each country has to show their intention how much GHG emissions could be reduced in 2030 based on their business as usual.
That being said, the quantification of GHG emissions reduction is imperative for many governmental officers who must monitor and report the GHG emissions reduction in their responsible sector. Focusing on the transport sector, the methodologies for the GHG calculation exist but are not widely acknowledged and devised.
Therefore, this webinar aims to share experiences on training techniques that will help improve training effectiveness on GHG calculation as well as other related transport topics such as data and indicator.
Target participants: 10-12 participants from the GIZ projects under Working Group Transport and Environment (WG TE) of TUEWAS (Sector Network Transport Environment Energy and Water in Asia)
Objectives:
After the webinar, the participants should be able to:

  1. understand training techniques in GHG calculation applicable for the transport sector
  2. apply appropriate training techniques (if any) to training in their projects
  3. share their common difficulties and experiences regarding trainings and/or workshops on the topic

Taglines:

  • Have you had trouble in keeping your participants’ concentration during the training?
  • How to transform complex equation into something easy to grasp?
  • Would your participant be able to apply knowledge from your trainings to their work?
  • Would it be good if we make such training more “enjoyable and practical”?

Instruction for your participation:

  1. You can contact GIZ helpdesk at helpline@giz.de to request and activate your Skype for business account. It is required to contact helpdesk at least a week before the webinar to ensure you get your account activated and ready for the Skype for Business.
  2. For those who don’t use Skype for Business, we recommend you to follow our guideline in the attached file. Please be aware that this process takes some time. Therefore, we suggest you to be ready for at least 30 minutes in advance for this installation process.
