SEEG training workshop on 30-31 March 2021

On 30-31 March, the first training workshop for 12 Vietnamese enterprises in the South, participating in Small Energy Efficiency Group (SEEG) program was organized by GIZ Energy Support Programme (ESP) and Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT). The workshop has provided knowledge on how to identify energy efficiency measures, focused on cross sector technologies like motor & pump, heating & cooling, compressed air, lighting system, etc. Interesting discussions on technical challenges and solutions to improve energy performance at each participating company were also facilitated during the workshop.

Under the framework of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (4E) project, GIZ Energy Support Programme (ESP) and Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), with support from the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) are organizing and implementing the Small Energy Efficiency Group (SEEG) program. The goal of the program is to help key energy users improve their practice capacity, identify energy saving solutions, and strengthen the workplace collaboration of the Departments to build an energy saving culture in every business.

On 30-31 March, the first activity in the series of SEEG program to support key energy users (KEUs) was organized for 12 Vietnamese KEUs in the South. In this “Energy Efficiency” training workshop, energy efficiency staff was equipped with knowledges & skills to identify energy efficiency opportunities focused on cross sector technologies like motor & pump, heating & cooling, compressed air, lighting system, etc. With knowledge from the workshop, energy management staffs can apply to build an energy saving & energy efficiency plan in their factories for the implementation.

During the workshop, interesting discussions on technical challenges and solutions to improve energy performance at each participating company were facilitated. While many business leaders see the value in driving energy efficiency, they also often mistakenly believe that energy management requires a big capital investment. In contrary, energy efficiency improvement opportunities can be achieved through minor, low cost, continuous energy improvement that are grounded in corporate culture change & management measures.

The SEEG program creates a chance for energy management staff to cultivate, supplement and further improve their background and professional knowledge by learning from practical experiences shared by lecturers and energy management staffs from other companies. This knowledge will contribute to the implementation of actual energy saving at each factory.
