The 8th India Water Week 2024, held from September 17-19 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, was a remarkable event that brought together diverse stakeholders to share insights and innovations in water management. Organised biannually by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, this year’s theme— “Partnerships and Cooperation for Inclusive Water Development and Management”—set the stage for dynamic discussions and collaborative efforts.
A standout feature of the event was the GIZ India Water TOCI stall, in which seventeen water related projects from GIZ India celebrated innovations and shared their knowledge on water as one unified initiative as speakers, exhibitors and participants. This initiative highlighted the importance of integrated approaches to water management, featuring vibrant posters and knowledge products that engaged visitors and sparked meaningful conversations. Projects such as Sustainable Aquaculture for Food & Livelihoods (SAFAL), Wetland Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection, Promoting Solar Water Pumps (PSWP), and Water Security and Climate Adaptation in Rural India (WASCA) presented their findings during thematic sessions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas.
The 8th India Water Week served as a vital platform for decision-makers, researchers, and stakeholders to converge, share knowledge, and explore innovative solutions for the pressing challenges in water resource management. The event not only celebrated existing achievements but also laid the groundwork for future collaborations in the quest for sustainable water development.
