Reimaging a more inclusive city during Jane’s Walk

Panelists at the Asia Pacific Transport Forum 2024 delved into “Building Feminist Cities” and led a 2.4-kilometer Jane’s Walk in Manila, re-imagining inclusive urban spaces for equitable mobility access.

At the Asia Pacific Transport Forum 2024 on May 17, panelists explored “Building Feminist Cities: Looking at the Intersectionality of Inclusivity” at the ADB Headquarters in Manila. Moderated by Keisha Mayuga (Women Mobilize Women), the panel featured insights from Inés Sánchez de Madariaga (UNESCO Chair on Gender), Vanesha Manuturi (Kota Kita), Thysz Estrada (PANTAY, Inc.), and Angelica Mata (NCTU, ITF). The panel discussed the importance of considering care work, planning for diverse needs, and ensuring equitable mobility access.

These discussions led to a 2.4-kilometer Jane’s Walk, where over 60 participants re-imagined a more inclusive city. Participants received postcards with AI-generated images to inspire their vision. The session concluded with feedback on various walking experiences in Metro Manila, expressing hope for improved and more inclusive transport systems.
