GERMANY SUMMER SCHOOL PREPARES SKILLED LABOUR FORCE FOR WIND POWER MARKET IN VIET NAM

A skilled labour force is significant for the development of wind power market in Viet Nam. The Technology Cooperation area under the “Support to the Up-scaling of Wind Power” project aims at equipping both Vietnamese students and professionals with the necessary skills to enter the labor market by bringing extensive experiences in wind power from Germany to Viet Nam.

From 12th to 23rd September 2016, the first time ever “Vietnam – Germany Summer School on Wind Power” was organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in close collaboration with Technische Universitaet Dresden (TU Dresden).

The Summer School provided 30 future wind experts from Viet Nam and Germany with a comprehensive knowledge of power system and wind energy with a focus on wind project development.

“The biggest lesson I’ve learn from the summer school is the impacts of energy on our environment and how important wind energy is to the development of Viet Nam” — Ms. Tran Thi Khanh Linh, spoke after she attended the “Vietnam – Germany Summer School on Wind Power” in September 2017 in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

“The summer school makes me realize that we should explore and utilise the potential of wind power in Vietnam so that we can protect the environment.” — Mr. Vu Tuan Hai, spoke after she attended the “Vietnam – Germany Summer School of Wind Power” in September 2017 in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

In addition, the students had space to exchange and develop ideas. As a result, the school was expected to promote capacity development and awareness raising on wind power for the next generation of wind power experts in Viet Nam.
