The EU – Viet Nam Energy Facility committed to technical assistance for educational and governmental institutions in Viet Nam

The EU – Viet Nam Energy Facility (EVEF) successfully signed two new projects with the School of Electrical Engineering (SEE) of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and the Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education (CCCPE) of Viet Nam in the last quarter of 2020. EVEF will provide technical assistance with the aim of raising awareness of diverse audience on renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as offer capacity building for the lecturers at SEE and propaganda officials respectively. 

On October 14, 2020, in Ha Noi, the EU – Viet Nam Energy Facility (EVEF) and the School of Electrical Engineering (SEE) of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed an agreement to implement the Project “Capacity Building for Research and Knowledge Transfer on the Integration of Renewable Energy into the Grids”, a technical assistance under sub-component 1B of the EVEF project.  

The technical assistance for this Project with SEE aims at improving the teaching capacity of the lecturers at SEE to effectively develop and deliver Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) subjects to students and thereby provide qualified workforce for RE market in Viet Nam. The Project also wants to raise awareness of SEE‘s students on RE and EE through network development and career activities. The Project will be implemented from October 2020 to September 2021. 

The signing ceremony between the EVEF and the Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education (CCCPE), which is also under sub-component 1B, took place on November 12, 2020, in Ha Noi to implement the Project on “Building capacity of propaganda and education officials at all levels to effectively disseminate the information and promote the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Viet Nam”. The signing ceremony was held with the participation of Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien – member of the Party’s Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education, H.E. Mr. Giorgio Aliberti – European Union Ambassador to Viet Nam, Ms. Regina Ecker – Country Director of GIZ Viet Nam, and Mr. Sven Ernedal – Director of the EVEF project and project staffs. 

The technical assistance project is developed to improve awareness, knowledge, and skills of local and central propaganda officials, reporters, and propagandists with regard to potential, advantages and capabilities of developing renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) in Viet Nam, thereby helping them to provide better consultancy to the Party’s committees and leaders at all levels in orienting and propagandizing information about RE and EE in provinces and units. Tentatively, the project will carry out 3 training courses for 700-750 propaganda officials, reporters and propagandists of 63 provinces/cities.
