To understand the best practices and energy efficiency measures implemented by the German municipal services and state agencies, REEE SCALE organised a five-day study tour to Germany for the officials of partner municipalities of KP and Punjab. The delegation included senior and technical representatives from partner institutions at the federal and provincial level (KP & Punjab) as well as from selected municipal service providers and local governments.

The delegation visited several German municipalities and saw the implementation of EnMS in the water, sanitation and building sectors. They met with German state energy agencies and energy management experts and exchanged on best energy management practices in Germany. They also visited several field sites and had detailed discussions on the different aspects of EnMS, for example, its implementation in various German municipal sectors, capacity building of energy teams, awareness raising of the public, developing energy policies to support the implementation of EnMS and other energy efficiency measures. This exchange also enabled the German counterparts to understand the opportunities and challenges in the emerging and rapid energy transition in Pakistan.
