On April 20, the GIZ held a kick-off workshop with the participation of companies to discuss the implementation of activities to promote Energy Efficiency (EE) in the private sector during 2023. The workshop was a follow-up to the earlier roundtable discussion on business cooperation in EE held in February this year.
The workshop brought together representatives from nine Vietnamese companies and organizations involved in EE, along with international consultants and experts from the GIZ.
At the workshop, participants engaged in fruitful discussions and shared their perspectives to shape the implementation of activities to promote EE in the private sector throughout 2023. One key focus was developing an EE communication campaign targeting industrial and commercial enterprises. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of EE and encourage companies to invest in and adopt energy-efficient measures in their production and operational activities.
Besides, the working group also discussed the development of basic training on EE measures for enterprises. The training will be conducted by energy managers and will help employees among enterprises understand the meaning of economical and efficient use of energy, and ready to join hands for further EE activities.
In addition, one important topic of the workshop is developing demonstration projects for saving energy and protecting climate at production plants in Viet Nam with the participation of Vietnamese service providers and German technology providers. These projects will receive technical support and combine technology and services offered by suppliers from both countries in accordance with the current legal framework in Viet Nam. The projects are expected to enable Vietnamese companies to access the most advanced EE technologies from Germany and create a premise to promote business cooperation between Vietnamese and German enterprises.
The kick-off meeting is within the framework of the Vietnamese – German Energy Dialogue funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). This workshop was a promising start towards a greener and more energy-efficient future for the private sector in Viet Nam.
