The International Conferences on Sustainable Industrial Areas (SIA) bring experts from all over the world together to discuss recent trends, best practices, and future development of SIA. The conferences serve as an international platform for exchanging knowledge about sustainable industrial development of industrial areas worldwide.
Before the conference, site visits to four selected industrial parks have been organized to show impressions from the national context and enable a direct exchange with the private developers.
The target group addressed about 250 participants from 20 countries (mainly from Africa, Asia and Europe), including 34 speakers from 11 countries.
The conference set the focus on three topics:
- The initiative of just transition for the development of regional resilience;
- The implementation of the national policy for sustainable development in industrial parks in Egypt;
- The provision of a methodological and technological toolbox for developers and operators to execute the transformation of industrial parks.
The 11th International SIA Conference is expected to be held in South Africa in close collaboration with United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the World Bank Group in October 2024.
