Realising the importance of public transport coverage in cities, 21 representatives of SUTRI NAMA & INDOBUS from 6 pilot cities, namely Bandung, Batam, Makassar, Pekanbaru, Semarang, and Surabaya, convened for a workshop to increase their capacity in establishing an integrated public transport system, both for physical and non-physical infrastructure. The event started with a panel discussion with speakers from DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, PT Jaklingko Indonesia, and PT MRT Jakarta that aimed to showcase the lessons learned from the process of public transport integration in Jakarta. To get a more direct experience, the event proceeded to a study trip to try out the integrated fare system and visit several sites that have been revitalised during the development of integrated public transport infrastructure. The event primarily highlights that an integrated public transport service not only could improve the transport system, but also potentially improve the area within the public transport facilities. At the end of the event, the participants emphasise the importance of a strong and collaborative political will to advance a reliable public transport system.
