Indonesia faces an urgent challenge with plastic leakage into the ocean, affecting its vast coastlines and marine life. The 2nd National Stakeholder Forum was pivotal in strengthening collaborative efforts to tackle this issue. The event, organized by 3RproMar in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Republic of Indonesia, witnessed discussions on the nation’s progress in plastic waste reduction, emphasizing the role of reuse and refill schemes, and served as a platform to regroup and exchange strategies to answer the challenges we face in achieving the national targets for ending plastic pollution. With 154 offline and 157 online participants, the gathering underlined a collective commitment to a cleaner ocean and sustainable future.
There is a need for a fundamental rethink across all levels, from public to private and from policymakers to producers, to remain on track in achieving these targets. Therefore, we gathered various stakeholders at the national level to set common ground on how we can scale up the efforts and find mutually complementing regulations, strategies, and its implantation.
