The GIZ-supported project “Improved Service Delivery for Citizens in Cambodia” (ISD) is supporting six (6) local Districts and Municipalities in the Provinces of Battambang, Siemreap, and Banteay Meanchey to improve their local waste management as a basic service to the citizens. In the second week of September 2023, selected members of the recently established “Sub-Committees on waste management” have been trained by professionals in a so-called training-of-trainers (ToT) workshop series. This ToT model enables those sub-committee members to become key persons within their communities for better local waste management matters. As “ambassadors” for better waste management, they contribute to Cambodia’s cleaner and healthier environment. In parallel various bigger awareness raising events for citizens have been conducted to broadly discuss the challenges of a local waste management.
