Promoting Synergy Among Southeast Asia’s Energy Professionals through SIPET

23 November 2023

A common challenge faced among energy transition stakeholders in Southeast Asia is scattered data sources and lack of coordination between projects. Duplication of work is unavoidable as stakeholders are unaware of existing activities. To address this gap, the project “Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE)” designed and developed the Southeast Asia Information Platform for the Energy Transition (SIPET) as a one-stop platform for all energy transition stakeholders in Southeast Asia.

To drive user’s growth and spread the word on SIPET’s unique features and benefits for energy transition collaboration, CASE had the opportunity to showcase the platform at two major regional events in October:

  • The Indonesia Sustainable Energy week (ISEW) 2023, a national platform for policymakers, business leaders, experts, and communities to network, exchange ideas, and have a cross-sectoral discourse toward a mutual understanding on energy transition in Indonesia.
  • The Third Asia and Pacific Energy Week, established as the ministerial level platform on promoting regional cooperation for enhanced energy security and the sustainable use of energy.

CASE representatives were able to demonstrate to visitors the key features of SIPET especially the Power sector tools and resources section which uses primary data sources from governments, utilities, and generation companies. Visitors also expressed their interest to explore the website, registering as members and also discussed further potential collaborations.

Other key functions of SIPET include:

  • The Project Mapping Tool, developed by CASE in cooperation with the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP), maps out energy transition projects in the region, helping donors and development partners working on the energy transition to identify and build partnership opportunities to create greater synergy and impact.
  • The Knowledge Hub, a portal for sharing news, research results, latest publications, and upcoming events.

For more information on the platform please visit the SIPET home page.
