GIZ e-Training Guide and Toolkit for TVET and Energy Programmes

Supporting decision-making: selection of cost-effective digital educational technologies

Based on the example of training wind energy technicians in Vietnam.

This Guide and Toolkit aim to help project teams identify and select digital educational technologies (DET) that support training in their context. Watch this video for a quick overview.
Watch a short introduction (about 2 minutes) to get an overview of the toolkit.
Learn how to use the Guide and Toolkit in this video tutorial (20 minutes).

1) e-Training Guide

The e-Training Guide explains the key steps that help project teams identify and select cost-effective DET.

The guide is illustrated with a case about the training of wind energy service technicians in Vietnam.

2) e-Training Toolkit

The e-Training Toolkit provides useful tools to help project teams carry out the steps described in the guide:

  1. The e-Training checklist describes on one page key questions to guide the selection process.
  2. The template for an e-training outline helps document the answers to these questions.
  3. The ICT4TVET decision matrix guides the context analysis.
  4. The ICT4TVET landscape supports the team discussions on how DET can be focused on reaching learning goals and supporting learning/teaching activities.
  5. A costing framework helps to identify cost drivers and supports systematic costing.
  6. The DET-List gives an overview of quality criteria that help evaluate different types of DET and select a cost-effective solution.
